Originally released in , Getting Ready features 10 tracks including "Same Old Blues" and "Dust My Broom." King is accompanied by a stellar band that includes Leon Russell, Donald "Duck" Dunn, and Don Preston, among other stalwarts. Of course, as much as the music, the reason to acquire this g pressing relates to the vibrant sound.
  7. Gashicage says:
Getting Ready was the first of 3 albums that Freddie King recorded for the Shelter label. It was recorded at Chess studios in Chicago in , which is a famous blues recording studio. It was produced by Leon Russell, who also played piano and guitar on the recording. Donald "Duck" Dunn was on bass guitar/5(50).
  8. Magore says:
The first of Freddie King's three albums for Leon Russell's Shelter label set the tone for his work for the company: competent electric blues with a prominent rock/soul influence. King sings and plays well, but neither the sidemen nor the material challenge him to scale significant heights. Part of the problem is that King himself wrote none of the songs, which are divided between Chicago.
